See How NTB Bed Bug Control Stacks Up Against The Competition!
|
|
1) Why Are Bed Bugs Back?
The old saying “Sleep tight, don’t let the Bed Bugs Bite”, stems from
the pre WWII era when bed bug parasites, also known as Cimex lectularius
L., were commonly found in just about every major city in the USA. Bed
Bugs have been around for hundreds of years and were practically wiped
out after WWII through the use of potent pesticides such as DDT and
chlorpyrifos. Commercial establishments routinely sprayed these
pesticides to maintain a trouble free environment which worked well
until these same pesticides were banned after studies revealed how
harmful they were to people, especially children. Now that the potent
pesticides have been taken out of the picture, bed bugs have been
returning with a vengeance and their ability to adapt to current
chemical treatments makes their extermination all the more difficult and
calls for a well though out plan of attack to send them back into
extinction.
2) What Are Bed Bugs Attracted To?
While we sleep, bed bugs actively seek out carbon dioxide and heat,
knowing that a warm blooded host will usually be nearby. Bed bugs crawl
up your bed frame while you are sleeping and suck your blood through a
piercing tube attached to their mouth. Bed bugs will drop down on you
from the ceiling or crawl out of pillow casings in order to feed once a
suitable host (you) is detected. Bed bugs need many feedings to complete
their reproductive and growth stages and with blood being their only
food source, you and your family become the only meal they can survive
on.
4) How Did I Get Bed Bugs?
Bed Bugs are very small and are able to cling to just about any object
that enters your home or commercial place. Bed bugs sneak in by
attaching themselves to pets, children’s clothing, backpacks, guests,
service people, luggage, new or used furniture, curtains, inside
furniture drawers, new or used clothing, boxes, yard sale items such as
pictures, lamps, blankets, appliances etc., and just about any other
item bed bugs can attach to for use as transport. Bed bugs can hitch a
ride with you from auto rentals, airplanes, laundries, dry cleaners and
other office buildings and can be carried home after visiting furniture
and electronic rental outlets and retail stores. Keep in mind - freshly
cleaned apartments and rental units may appear to be fine, yet may be
heavily infested since bed bugs can survive for many months between
feedings.
5) Where Can Bed Bugs Hide?
Bed bugs can hide just about anywhere but generally tend to stay
somewhat near their blood host – sometimes showing a preference to
fabrics, wood and paper. Bed Bugs often pool in the seams of mattresses
and can also be found in pillow casings, box springs, bed posts, and
bedding fabrics. Bed bugs can easily travel great distances and can
normally be found hiding in wall outlets, floor cracks, baseboards,
closet and window runners, lamps, tables, ornamentals, picture frames,
rugs, carpets, clothing, furniture and just about anywhere else they can
squeeze into. Bed bugs feed at night and remain in their hiding spots
throughout the day, waiting for you to retire so that they can resume
their feeding cycle.
6) What Are The Signs Of An Infestation?
Apart from locating bed bugs visibly, signs of infestation can include
streaking blood stains from crushed bugs, brownish colored excrement
stains, shed exoskeletons, bed bug eggs and eggshells. Although bed bugs
tend to linger near their host (you), they can easily travel from any
area of a building to your sleeping quarters so a diligent search is
need to locate all nest areas. Brown or red blood streaks on sheets,
pillow coverings and mattresses are also signs that a blood filled bed
bugs have created the stains. Severely infested locations may have a
various foul odors similar to decaying raspberries, musty sweet like
odors or almond like scents.
7) How Do Bed Bugs Spread And Multiply?
Bed bugs need to drink blood in order to lay eggs, multiply and
progress through the various stages of development each parasite
experiences. An adult female can lay up to 500 eggs in her lifetime and
just a few bedbugs can result in thousands of bugs in just a few months.
Bed bugs seek out blood prior to mating and use cluttered areas to lay
as many as 4 to 6 eggs each day. They can work their way up walls and
will constantly seek a warm blooded host to be used as supply for their
development. If left untreated, they rapidly generate more bed bugs
resulting in more mouths to feed and more bites on you and your family.
Like any insect, if the bed bugs find a cluttered area they are
comfortable in, and their blood meals are readily available, they will
stay and multiply aggressively. Early stage treatments avoid lengthy
infestation and ends the breeding cycle faster.
8) What Do Bed Bug Bites Look Like?
Bed bug bites appear as small red welts or bumps that often result in a
burning or itching sensation surrounding the target bite area. The bites
can appear randomly on different parts of your body, or they can be in a
straight line formation where the bug bit as it traveled along your
body. Because each individual reacts differently to bed bug bites, the
bites may appear as miniscule rashes, abrasion like patches or neutral
colored welts. Distinguishing bed bug bites may pose a problem due to
the varied appearances from person to person and direct evidence such as
eggs, blood trails or feces may better help you determine if your bites
are in fact bed bug related.
9) Do Bed Bug Bites Transmit Disease?
Much controversy surrounds the likelihood of bed bug bites transmitting
disease and although no scientific studies offer proof of any such
transmission, some experts believe that blood exchange via parasitical
transfusion is possible. Studies have shown that bed bugs gorging on HIV
infected blood revealed live HIV internally within 1 hour of feeding yet
no current studies prove that co-host transmission is possible or
reaching epidemic levels. The general consensus is that bed bug bites do
not alone, transmit disease, with a worst case scenario of secondary
infection resulting from severe allergic reaction or improper care of
the bite areas. Bite scarring can occur in some people and infected
areas should be properly cared for to avoid such scarring or blemishing.
10) Can I Eliminate My Bed Bug Problem Even If My Infested Neighbors
Refuse Treatment?
Yes you can. If your neighbors are infested with bed bugs and refuse to
treat their problem, you will need to take additional steps to keep bed
bugs out of your living space once they are eradicated. If you cannot
encourage your neighbors to seek treatment, be sure to caulk and seal
off even the smallest of entry areas to block passage of the bed bugs
coming from the untreated nearby neighbors. Apply self sticking foam
strips to all external doors and windows, install door sweeps and be
sure to seal off any small gaps that bed bugs can squeeze through. Apply
foam to attic storage panels and use micro-screen coverings on heating
and cooling vents. Make sure the coverings are too small for bed bug
passage yet will not restrict air flow in any way. Inspect any piping or
wiring that might pass through rooms or apartments and proactively block
any entry areas where bed bugs might sneak in.
11) Do Bed Bugs Only Bite Certain Individuals?
No. Bed bugs have no preference as to whom they are drinking from. A
family of five may all be bitten throughout an evening with only one
family member displaying signs of bites. In most cases, everyone living
in a bed bug infested area will be bitten equally. Bed bugs live only on
blood and do not discriminate who the donor is. Pets are also bitten
although bed bugs appear to prefer human blood.
12) Will Bed Bugs Bite My Pets?
Yes, bed bugs will
bite any warm blooded creature and if you are not available when dinner
time comes, they will
drink the blood of dogs, cats, hamsters, birds and
most any other warm blooded household pet. If you have pets, remember to
thoroughly inspect and treat the areas where your pets sleep and rest.
Getting bed bugs off of you is your primary goal and treating pet areas
is essential for complete eradication.
13) What Will Happen
If I Do Nothing About My Bed Bug Problem?
Unfortunately, your problem will get worse. Bed bugs multiply rapidly
with each new bed bug requiring blood to live and produce more bed bugs.
Failure to treat an infestation will only worsen the situation - leading
to further mental anguish and horror like living conditions. At some
point, you may need to invest a considerable amount of money into
eradication a sever infestation if left untreated and the stress and
financial burden is often too much to handle for just about anyone. If
you have an infestation, regardless of size, you need to quickly control
the bed bugs using a proven product backed by intricate research and one
of the best guarantees available. Bed Bug Mace WILL get rid of your bed
bug problem and personal tech support is always available to answer any
questions you may have along the way.

15)
How Does Bed Bug Mace Work?
The first step in getting rid of bed bugs with Bed Bug Mace is to
partake in an intricate examination of all areas where infestation is
occurring to determine every possible hiding area the bed bugs are using
as shelter between feedings. Bed Bug Mace is a triple pronged control
system designed to completely rid your area of bed bugs via Powerful EPA
GRAS listed ingredients. Bed Bugs are killed soon after coming into
contact with Bed Bug Mace and added protection found within each kit
assures permanent elimination. Treatments are easy and effective –
simply spray Bed Bug Mace around infested areas and follow up with
NT-Zyme and shredder dust. Cover all mattresses, steam, vacuum
thoroughly and seal off all cracks and crevices with caulk. Each kit
contains all you need for complete bed bug elimination with plenty of
extra spray solution for repeat treatments if necessary.
16)
Is Bed Bug Mace Non-Toxic?
Bed Bug Mace is pesticide free, non-toxic and is exempted from EPA
Registration under section 25(b) of FIFRA. Since Bed Bug Mace contains
no pesticides, Pesticide resistance is mute and persons sensitive to
pesticides and chemicals can appreciate the lack of such pesticide
qualities.
17)
Can I Apply Bed Bug Mace On My Furniture, Mattress, Household Items And
Carpets?
Bed Bug Mace is non-staining and can be applied to most all surfaces.
If in doubt, test a small inconspicuous area prior to full dosage
application. Bed Bug Mace can normally be applied to walls, mattresses,
box springs, ornamental furniture, carpets, woodwork, trim, tile, wall
fixtures, furniture and other non-electrical household items and areas.
Heavy spray and not needed since a light misting will provide the
protection necessary for complete bed bug control.
18)
Are Small Portable Steamers Effective?
From egg to adult, proper steam treatments kill all stages of bed bug
development (including eggs) and are considered a formidable weapon in
the fight against bed bugs. Unfortunately, cheap plastic steamers below
the $400.00 range can be very ineffective since they rarely come close
to matching the power of professional dry steamers. Low grade steamers
often produce inadequate steam power to travel deeply into hidden areas
where bed bugs hide. Additionally, a lack of proper accessories and low
steam output make renting a commercial steamer a more realistic approach
if you want to seriously attack the infestation.
19) What Type Of
Steamer Should I Use?
Suggested high output
steamers can cost upwards of 1500.00 but can easily be rented to treat a
large area in a fairly short amount of time. Keep in mind, wet steam can
cause mold, destroy certain fabrics or other items and can cause
electrical fires if not properly used. NTB recommends the use of high
quality dry steamers to eradicate bed bugs and highly suggests a proper
steam treatment prior to Bed Bug Mace treatment. When steaming, you need
to be very detail oriented - covering every possible hiding spot in your
treatment area. Small nozzle steamer heads can blow bead bugs around,
which is undesirable, while large head nozzles blanket the treatment
area in a more effective manor. Full details on proper steam treatment
methods are included in your treatment guide.
20)
Do I Have To Discard My Mattress, Box Spring Or Other Furniture?
Not at all. Treating your furnishings with Bed Bug Mace eliminates the
need to discard your personal belongings. A light and thorough misting
is sufficient to provide complete protection. See full instruction
included with each kit for further information on how to handle existing
household items.
21)
What If I Do Just Throw Everything Out – Including The Carpet?
Unfortunately, bed bugs spread out and hide in just about every object
or crevice they can squeeze into. Removing some of your furniture may
lead to getting rid of some bed bugs, but others may still be hiding
throughout the entire property. Full treatments with Bed Bug Mace, along
with closely following detailed instructions included with each kit,
will completely control your bed bug situation without discarding your
furnishings.
22)
Should I Wash My Belongings In Hot Or Cold Water?
Studies have shown that hot water is most effective to get rid of bed bugs
on clothing, sheets, linens and other washable items. Remember to keep
all freshly washed items out of untreated areas, returning them once
treatments are complete and the bed bugs are gone. Use caution and check
labels before washing any fabric in hot water.
23) Can I Only Treat
One Section
Of My Home Where The Infestation Is Occurring?
Spot treatments are not recommended since bed bugs are intelligent
enough to seek out blood regardless of where you or your family sleeps.
Bed bugs have been known to avoid treated areas seeking more host
friendly conditions found in untreated spaces. Always treat your entire
area to assure that total elimination. Treating one area will provide a
false sense of security most likely leading to re-infestation shortly
thereafter. Bed Bug Mace kits come in various sizes to suit each unique
situation.
24)
How Long Will It Take For Bed Bug Mace To Work?
Bed Bug Mace eliminates bed bugs on contact with Shredder dust lasting
up to weeks after initial treatment. The first thing you will notice is
a severe decline in bed bug populations and less bites on your body. A
proper treatment, as outlined within your treatment guide, can result in
a bite free environment within just 24 hours. Unlike other treatments,
which can require multiple applications, Bed Bug Mace can get rid of bed
bugs overnight without the need for full repeat treatments.
